And of course, there is the golf… a stay at The Lodge at Pebble Beach™ gives access to the famous Pebble Beach Golf Links™ and its three sister courses. With this itinerary our local expert introduces us two some hidden gems in Bayonet and Blackhorse, a couple of courses that will wow you.
Day 1
1 Round at Blackhorse
Black Horse provides both challenges and inspiration to golfers. Its fescue-framed fairways, bunkers with distinctive, serrated edges and slickly-contoured greens come with sweeping vista of the Pacific.
The golf course has been re-sculpted by award-winning golf course architect Gene Bates, Showcasing Bates’ elegant bunkering and graceful greens, the new Black Horse offers expanded views of the bay. Distinctively different than its previous design, Black Horse has been transformed from a series of tightly tree-lined holes to a more open, flowing and comfortable environment. Moreover, the strategic and visual impact is nonetheless developing into the ideal complement to Bayonet.
The Lodge at Pebble Beach (4 nights)
The Lodge at Pebble Beach™ is in a picturesque location on the pacific coastline. This luxurious property affords guests easy access to all four Pebble Beach® courses and practice facilities and is an excellent base for this premier golf experience.
Set in idyllic Monterey, California and is nestled up against the pacific coastline. With accommodation options ranging from Garden View Rooms to Ocean View Suites, The Lodge has something for every guest. Each of these spacious rooms offers contemporary furnishings, warm fireplaces, and luxurious amenities.
Day 2
1 Round of Golf on Spyglass Hill Golf Course
Spyglass Hill™, one of the most respected and revered courses in the world begins with one of the greatest opening stretches in golf: five spectacular sand-splashed holes that cruise up and down a sea of dunes while showcasing sublime oceanfront scenery and shots you've surely never seen.
In spite of the presence of one of the most famous courses in the world in the form of Pebble Beach, those in the know actually consider Spyglass to be the best and indeed the toughest test in the area. Loved by many for its challenge and scenic beauty, Spyglass has ranked among the best golf courses in the world for more than 40 years.
Dinner at The Bench
Overlooking the 18th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Bench at The Lodge at Pebble Beach delivers an eclectic menu inspired by international styles and methods, and uses the innovative technique of wood roasting and open-flame cooking. You can also enjoy an array of wines on tap as well as premium draft beers.
The Bench is designed with an open-air atmosphere and includes an expansive dining room surrounding a lively bar, glass-enclosed conservatory and our picturesque outdoor dining area with fire pits and fire tables. The Bench is a must visit for cocktail drinkers as we pride ourselves on our extensive, one-of-a-kind cocktail program utilizing fresh made juices, purees and garnishes daily. Accessible tables and seating options are available.
Day 3
1 Round at Bayonet
One of the best kept secrets in the Monterey area, Bayonet is long, technically challenging and features sweeping vistas that overlooks the famed Monterey Peninsula.
Bayonet, with its narrow playing corridors and steep, penal bunkering, has long been considered the most difficult test of golf on the Monterey Peninsula. The par-72, 7,104-yard course has retained its famous bite after the recent renovation by award-winning architect Gene Bates, but playability and strategic options have been greatly improved. The uphill, dogleg right, 476-yard, par-4 ninth hole exemplifies the course's significant challenge.
Day 4
1 Round at Pebble Beach Golf Links
Pebble Beach is the No. 1 Golf Resort in America. With three Top 50 public courses canvasing the spectacular coastline that wraps around California’s Monterey Peninsula, golf at Pebble Beach Resorts is a truly unforgettable experience. Whether you are skirting the scenic sand dunes at Spanish Bay, threading the towering pines of Spyglass Hill, or challenging the cliff-swept shoreline at Pebble Beach, a golf trip to Pebble Beach Resorts is full of memorable thrills.
Dinner at Sandbar & Grill
Tucked away underneath Monterey’s Municipal Wharf #2, the small restaurant and bar hangs alongside of the pier in dramatic fashion. Dinner offers Fresh Fish Specials, Whole Crab, a thick juicy New York Steak and more!
You walk down the steps towards the water, ring the ships bell, and enter a room surrounded by windows looking out on the marina. Waitpersons are prompt and courteous. Uncomplicated menus & lots of tasty choices.
